Hearing is critical to learning in school. L.H. Dahlquist’s 1998 study estimated that 75% of the school day is spent engaged in listening activities.

 

The MARRS (Mainstream Amplification Resource Room Study) Project showed that amplification of the teacher’s voice resulted in significant improvement  in academic test scores.

Poor acoustical conditions in classrooms can interfere with students’

development of spoken language, reading, and writing skills and academic performance;
